July 17, 1938 - June 20, 2026

Joyce Marie Mock Brown

Joyce Marie Mock Brown, 87, of Savannah, Georgia, passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

Born in Savannah to Jesse David Mock and Marie Edith Mock, Joyce lived a life rooted in love, faith, and deep devotion to everyone around her. Joyce was a woman who cherished the Lord and carried His light in the kindness she showed to others. She was truly a friend to everyone she met, leaving a lasting impression through her warm spirit and generous heart.

Above all, Joyce adored her family. She shared an extraordinary 71 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Herman J. Brown, Sr., a partnership built on unwavering love, faith, and companionship. Together, they created a family that was her greatest joy and pride. She was a devoted mother to her children, Herman J. Brown, Jr., Judy B. Adler, Kathy D. Brown, and Gary S. Brown. She held a tender place in her heart for her grandchildren, Jennifer B. Adler, Drew W. Adler, Ryan C. Brown, and Christian E. Brown. Her great-grandchildren, Adler and Emory, brought her endless delight and smiles.

Joyce found her happiest moments surrounded by those she loved, whether gathered with family or sharing laughter with dear friends. She treasured these connections deeply, finding joy in fellowship, conversation, and simply being together.

She was preceded in death by her cherished daughter, Judy B. Adler; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse D. Mock, Sr.; her brothers, Jesse Mock, Jr., John Mock, Cecil Mock, Irvin Mock, and Earl Mock; and her sisters, Elizabeth Mock and Neva Creech.

She is survived by her husband Herman J. Brown, Sr.; children Herman J. Brown, Jr. and wife Sharon of Charleston, SC, Kathy D. Brown, and Gary S. Brown and wife Tracy; grandchildren Jennifer Adler, Drew Adler of Baltimore, MD, Ryan Brown of Dalton, GA, and Christian Brown; great-grandchildren Adler and Emory; brother-in-law Carl Brown and Angela Shipes; along with many extended family members and friends who were blessed by her love and friendship.

Joyce enjoyed her years working at The Clothes Tree in Savannah and was a proud member of the Magnolia Club, where she formed treasured friendships with Carolyn Griner, Martha Conners, Elsie Evans, Carolyn Fountain, Frances Dewitt, Polly Jeffers, Melba Lanier, and Willean Bruckner. Her closest friend, Judy Dubberley, held a special place in her life, a bond marked by laughter, trust, and shared memories.

Joyce’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, faith, and connection. She will be remembered for her gentle kindness, her joyful heart, and the way she made everyone feel welcome and valued. She lived the words she spoke often as found in John 13:34, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Home, 7200 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406.

A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in the chapel of the funeral home, with Rev. Billy Miller officiating.

Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 315 Greenwich Road, Savannah, Georgia 31404.
